Cake Smash

Why book a Cake Smash session?

At the heart of every first birthday, there’s a cake waiting to be smashed, laughter ready to echo through the air, and memories begging to be captured. Our 1st birthday cake smash sessions are all about embracing the art of messy play, while freezing those fleeting moments of pure delight in photographs that will warm your heart for years to come.

Turning a year older is a big milestone and who wouldn’t want to celebrate it with a beautiful setup, gorgeous outfit and some yummy cake!

When to book?

Cake Smash sessions can be done from 11 months to just over 1 year old of age. They do not need to happen on their actual birthday.

If you require the images for birthday party invites, please ensure you book your session roughly 1 month in advance (i.e. 11 months of age)

Preparing for your session

Here are a few guidelines to keep in mind for your upcoming session:

1) If at all possible, please try schedule the session after babies nap time. This will ensure we have a happy baby.

2) Please ensure baby has had something to drink & eat prior to the session.

3) Schedule babies feed just before leaving the house or just before arriving at the studio (Depending on the distance you need to travel).

4) Please bring a comfort toy with that baby enjoys.

How long is the session?

I schedule 30 minutes – 1 hour for these sessions (Depending on the package chosen) however it may take slightly longer if baby takes longer to warm up to me.

Please ensure you are at my studio 10 minutes prior to your session time.

Do you supply outfits?

I have a range of outfits in my studio to fit children up to 1 years of age (Roughly 11kg). You are welcome to utilise your own outfits as well.

Outfits are unfortunately note supplied for children over 1 years of age.

The Cake, Allergies & Adversions?

As part of your package, a smash cake is supplied. The cake is decorated to match your desired colour scheme and theme.

If your baby has any known food allergies, please let me know! If you are not sure if your baby will have an allergy to any ingredients used to make a cake, I recommend trying a cupcake at home first. If your baby has an allergy or aversion, there are a few other option we can do in place of a cake smash.
